At first, we both played it here and there. Jerry bought some beginner lesson plans and taught himself how to play a little. I brushed off some of my old knowledge and played my basic rendition of Chariots of Fire. But, for the most part, the piano became just a piece of furniture occupying our front room.

So when I heard about Piano for Preschoolers, it got my interest. I really wanted to teach my kids to play, but I thought they were probably a little young for formal lessons. The Piano for Preschoolers' color-coded system, seemed like a great way introduce them to notes. One of the most confusing aspects of learning to play piano is that all the keys look the same. Because of the color-coded strip that you tuck behind the piano keys and the color-coded music written on traditional music staff, my 5-year old was able to pick up Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star almost instantly. I was amazed!
Here's what the Piano for Preschoolers kit includes:
- A beginners piano book containing 17 familiar songs written on color-coded on a traditional music staff
- 17 track CD with voice-over "count aloud" for each song
- Color strip to sit on your piano or keyboard to guide your preschooler to the correct key
- And, a step-by-step Parent/Teacher Guide
Overall, I think this is a great system for introducing your child to the wonderful world of music. It's definitely sparked my son's interest in playing the piano. And we hope eventually he'll be ready to take his learning to the next level. Watch out, Billy Joel!
